The largest manufacturer and supplier of car care products in Europe is set to move its headquarters to Rochdale within months.

Tetrosyl Group Ltd, whose head office and manufacturing sites are both in Bury, is undertaking an ambitious £1m refurbishment of Newgate House, which will be its new headquarters from early 2016.

The move will bring around 130 staff into the heart of Rochdale town centre as well as customers from over 100 countries.

The seven-storey building on Newgate will play host to visitors from around the world, with product showrooms and a classic racing car exhibition area, including a formula one car, set to impress customers from as far afield as Australia, China, Thailand and America.

The company will also be looking to recruit Rochdale residents to roles within the group wherever possible.

The move will also help facilitate a multi-million pound investment in the group’s main manufacturing site at Bridge Hall in Bury, preserving jobs and helping to create a modern, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.

Councillor Richard Farnell, Leader of Rochdale Borough Council, said: “Having a well-respected multinational company relocating to Rochdale is a great coup for the borough and cements our reputation as a great place to do business. Regeneration experts say that every new person coming into a borough puts about £1,200 a year into the local economy by spending in local businesses. This investment, as well as new jobs for local people, is worth shouting about.”

Peter Schofield, Chairman of Tetrosyl Group Ltd, said: “We needed a new base for our headquarters so that we can modernise and expand our business and this site was perfect. The transport links in and out of Rochdale are fantastic and the council has been really proactive in helping to make this happen. It clearly has a business friendly approach.

“This move will be great for us and for Rochdale. As well as bringing money into the local economy and transforming a major building in the town centre into first class office space, it will boost the business sector. When major investment comes into a town, other businesses, like restaurants and bars, tend to follow. To see a UK flagship company like Tetrosyl locating its head office to Rochdale is a major boost for the borough.”

Tetrosyl’s new showroom and offices will transform the site which has not been fully occupied since the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) moved out at the end of 2011.       Chief Executive of Rochdale Borough Council, Steve Rumbelow and Council Leader, Richard Farnell take a tour of the new Tetrosyl headquarters
