The new glass-fronted entrance on Baillie Street is now open to the public and boasts six new escalators and two new lifts.
2014 saw the completion of the demolition of the old bus station,overhead walkways & Municipal Offices ready for the site to be redeveloped for the shopping & leisure scheme in the longer term. The new Wheatsheaf entrance replaces the previous overhead walkway spanning Baillie Street.
The construction of a new attractive entrance on Baillie Street will enable the new Town Centre East development to be fully integrated with the Wheatsheaf shopping centre and the town centre retailing along Yorkshire Street and the Exchange Centre.
